Calibration Certificates

Thermometer Superstore offer a thermometer calibration service to ensure instruments are working accurately.

Test Caps

Simply plug in the desired test cap and the display on the thermometer should show the same temperature as the certified value, you can therefore be assured that your instrument is calibrated and is reading correctly.

Comparitors / Validators / Calibration Checkers

A range of test equipment for ensuring thermometers are working correctly and accurately.

High Accuracy Reference Thermometers

Thermometers with extremely high levels of accuracy designed for checking daily use thermometers against. Supplied with UKAS calibration certificates.

Thermometer Calibration

Regular thermometer calibration is important to ensure that the temperature readings from a thermometer are accurate. They are also often needed to satisfy legal requirements, auditors and quality control standards. We offer a selection of services and equipment to help users check the accuracy of their instruments.

We work closely with a UKAS-accredited laboratory that carries out all our calibration. The UKAS accreditation demonstrates that the laboratory operates to the highest standards, calibrates instruments to internationally recognised standards, and is regularly audited to monitor their compliance.
Note: UKAS stands for United Kingdom Accreditation Service which is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.

The calibration certificates we offer are full UKAS certificates, not to be confused with "UKAS-Traceable Certificates" as advertised by some of our competitors. The latter only means that the equipment used to test the equipment meets UKAS standards and not the calibration process itself.

We also stock instruments that enable the end user to check the accuracy of their equipment. The simplest way of thermometer testing is to use are test caps and can be used on thermistor thermometers that have interchangeable probes. Test caps are available in a range of temperatures, the most appropriate temperature choice will depend upon the use the thermometer is normally put to. For example a thermometer that is used for checking fridge temperatures may be most usefully tested with a 5°C test cap. The test cap plugs into the probe socket on the thermometer and the reading on the thermometer should show the same temperature as the test cap.

Simulators also plug into the probe socket and work in a similar way to test caps. However simulators have a range of temperatures so the thermometer's accuracy can be checked at several different temperatures. These are available for K and T type thermometers.

Test caps and simulators only check the accuracy of the electronics of the thermometer. To check a system (the thermometer complete with probe) calibrators, calibration baths and reference thermometers are available. By comparing the reading of a thermometer to that of a high accuracy reference thermometer (which has a UKAS certificate) will demonstrate its accuracy. Further information on all the calibration methods discuss here can be found in the relevant sections.
